Prasad Seva at Shri Kedarnath Temple
The Shri Kedarnath Temple is counted among the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and is considered one of India's holiest pilgrimage sites. Nestled in the divine lap of the Himalayas, this ancient temple is a focal point of faith for millions of devotees. Pilgrims visit with deep reverence to seek the darshan (divine vision) and blessings of Lord Kedarnath and to partake in the Prasad service
Mythology / Belief
According to religious belief, after the Mahabharata war, the Pandavas sought refuge in Lord Shiva to attain liberation from their sins. Displeased with them, Lord Shiva secretly retreated to the Kedar region and assumed the form of a bull. When the Pandavas recognized Him, Lord Shiva began to merge into the earth. At that moment, His posterior part manifested at Kedarnath; this is worshipped today as the Shri Kedarnath Jyotirlinga. For this reason, the site is revered as a magnificent abode of Moksha (liberation), Tapa (penance), and the grace of Shiva.
